A pen and ink illustration portrait for one of the famous Japanese authors of the twenty century, Dazai Osamu. This is an intuitive drawing without planning and sketches. Dazai’s gaze and mood attracted me when I first saw his portrait—a sense of sadness and deep melancholy. There was an emotional resonance connecting us. Then I created this artwork after knowing his tragic life story associated with depression, broken relationships, and addictions.
